| 842204 | 2009-12-22 03:23:00 | There's an 'OEM Partition' in my second HDD, which I would like to remove to gain more space but there's no way I can delete it. Disk Management in Windows 7 could not do it. This is my old HDD with Vista and when I decided to move to Windows 7, I added another new HDD for the new OS, keeping Vista just in case I may need to revert back. Since Win 7 proves to be a better OS, I've deleted the Vista partition and format the whole HDD but somehow, there's no way I can delete the 'OEM Partition' which is 50GB in capacity. Any idea what is this 'OEM Partition' and how to remove it? |

| 842205 | 2009-12-22 03:41:00 | OEM partition is most likely your recovery partition, and is the equivalent of a windows installation disc If you delete this, you won't be able to reinstall windows without getting a DVD from somewhere However if you don't want the old Vista, and you want the new Windows 7, you can safely delete this anyway. These partitions are protected from deletion because of what they hold. If you really want to delete it, I suggest using a live Linux CD or just the GParted CD. Or download something like HDAT2 and just re-zero the entire drive. |

| 842206 | 2009-12-22 03:43:00 | You may need to boot from a bootable CD, something like Partitionlogic (partitionlogic.org.uk/) , or Easeus (http:) and blow it away like that. Just be careful which partition you play with -really ruins your day if you get the wrong one :xmouth: |
