| 841914 | 2009-12-21 05:53:00 | Apologies if this is a dumb question; here's the scenario: - 80Gb drive partitioned into two equal partition, one (C:\) for the O/S (XP Pro), and one (D:\) for all applications. The C:\ partition has been damaged by a virus, so if I blow it away and do a rebuild without touching D:\, will all my apps still work? I'm thinking not, but I thought I'd check! :p |

| 841915 | 2009-12-21 05:55:00 | Probably not because the registry entries wont be on it. So the programs wont know where to look | Speedy Gonzales (78) | ||
| 841916 | 2009-12-21 07:28:00 | Yep, many many programs rely on the registry....so no:p Not to mention the appdata settings will be lost if you have your user profile on your C drive. Blam |

| 841918 | 2009-12-21 08:22:00 | Thanks all, for this and the other post today - have ended up doing a fresh install, as I was going nowhere with it!! Not surprised I had issues, as I ran Spybot from a bart PE disc, and it found a Virut infection :badpc: |
