841623 2009-12-21 03:30:00 Hi

Tried using wubu to install latest Ubuntu. Worked through all stages well. When I reboot though, I am not getting a choice of operating system. Windows XP just loads, no sign of ubuntu but it is on the C:drive.

Xp S.pack 3 Latest wubi and the ubuntu version it chooses. Allowed 10 gig for install on C: drive.

Absolute novice with Linux!!! Have checked ubuntu forum but not getting to the specific problem there.

Any help appreciated. Thanks

841624 2009-12-21 03:35:00 Hmmm, wubi .... the worst of both worlds ;)

It's not a dual boot setup where you have a separate partition and can choose.
It installs ubuntu as an "application" in windows, so you must boot windows to use it.

Edit: My mistake, it IS supposed to add an entry to the WINDOWS bootloader ....
You might get more info asking here wubi-installer.org than the ubutnut forums.

841625 2009-12-21 03:54:00 Check your boot.ini file.

Are you full administrator on your machine?

841626 2009-12-21 04:05:00 Thanks. Yes full rights. Will look at forum and check boot.ini

For the time being I have deleted it. Will probably go to full install and over-write XP since this is the old computer. That should end all problems!
