734692 2009-01-05 08:24:00 Thanks for your replies. What about tools required ie crimping tool for the f connectors - are they cheap? or hire them from hirequip? The kit there has f connectors already crimped on the cable, so if you want you can use that, the only downsides are that you can't cut the cable to length and you have to drill a bigger hole for the cable, as the f-connector is quite 'fat'. You can however use a 'screw on' f' connector that requires no tool, but is less secure. I guess you could use screw on and sillicone or tape it in place.

Re the recording question - i take it VHS is no good as signal is digital - therefore DVD recorder or PVR. Are there any other options? You can use a VHS to record freeview, but only the channel that is is set too. In other words you set the STB to the channel you want to record and press record. I don't know of any recorders that can change the channel on the STB.

Also as the new channels come out, and if i don't have a freeview approved STB, can I manually tune in the channels? How does this work. Thanks again. You can 'scan' for new channels.

Screw on f-connect. (www.dse.co.nz) That is a ridiculous price though. You can probably get cheaper ones from an electrical supplier that carries signal-master TV fittings.
