734478 2009-01-03 05:43:00 I bought a 42" plasma tv last week and i note it has five fans in the back to extract the heat as it gets very hot believe it gets hot nearly burn't my finger just touching the back of it where the fan is, What i want to know is has anybody experienced a higher power bill from these tv's it says it consumes 435 watts of power from the power socket be interested in your opinion. Otherwise Panasonic make fantastic viera plasma tvs should have got one earlier find it better than lcd tvs now.

:clap:clap:clap

yes they are very power hungry, emit lots of RFI and emit a fair bit of other radiation out the front to (there is a filter but some glass cleaners can remove one of those filters !)
last time i looked Aussie was going to ban plasma screens because they are so inefficient.

LCD,s are ok but tend to have a funny look on the bigger screens and get very expencive for the big sizes.

Nuh, shift key (so he can capitalise the first letter of each new sentence I assume)

But then, I'm not really one to worry about such trivial things
Ok, it takes a lil more time to read, but then sometimes ya have to take ya time to really comprehend things (not just written text either)

Could be worse.. e.g

734480 2009-01-03 09:46:00 Do you find that your tv puts out a lot of heat i find if i close the door to outside it gets hot in here very quickly so will be cosy in the winter with a high power bill i guess.
My LCD gets very hot after a few hours of watching
but nowhere near burning fingers

734481 2009-01-03 10:37:00 If you put your hand near the fans at the back you can feel the hot metal near the fan at both ends very very hot guess it eats some power but worth it for an awesome pic. Hitech (9024)

No - not the slightest little bit.
But if the signal is poor then the result is more obvious on the LCD than it is on our old steam driven device.
Funny enough if I save the poor signal to the hard drive then play it later on the result is generally better. I presume there is a logical reason for this.

Not on the newer ones with a response time of 5ms.
