2009-12-21 00:34:00 | I've used a DOS program called Fastlynx to do file transfers using parallel ports. The cable has 25 pin connectors - bought from Dick Smith, nothing special about it. Part no. X8259. | rumpty (2863) | |
2009-12-21 00:35:00 | The answer is .... maybe :) I suggest you check the manual for said machinery. Using the plug & pray method on proprietary machinery like that is seldom a recipe for a good outcome.

Their pinout assignment may not be standard and to be honest I don't have experience with CNC machines, A friend of mine does, however and if you can tell me the make and model of the machines I will see if he can assist you. |

2009-12-21 04:10:00 | One of them is a Cincinnati Milacron Acramatic 2100. Think the other one is the same make but different model number, could be the same. | nedkelly (9059) | |

2009-12-21 05:59:00 | KarameaDave: He tried that but the program on the second one will not accept that there is a floppy drive there even though the bios detects one. The second one which i just found out is a A2100 has a NIC card in it but for some reason it does not work right. Tested it with my laptop and a crossover cable, no connection. Dont really want to try putting a NIC in the 2100. There are too many cables to remember where they go. And also dont want to break anything inside it. | nedkelly (9059) | |
2009-12-21 08:14:00 | hey was thinking would i be able to use hyperterminal to receive and send the files on a laptop? | nedkelly (9059) | |
2009-12-21 08:35:00 | Not sure but worth a shot. My friend is unfortunately unfamiliar with these controllers He seems to think though that the transmit and receive on the serial link are the only pins that should need swapping, if any. A bit not really helpful sorry.
