| 734904 | 2009-01-04 07:08:00 | our neighbour has installed a cctv camera on an ariel stand on the roof of his house. it kind of points down into his front yard but also kind of points across the road into some of our and our neighbours windows. any ideas what the rules are with this type of thing re. privacy laws etc. i know with city councils they have to advertise install of cameras and wait for submissions if any. cheers |

What they cant do is use any footage for evidence in any criminal proceeding. To be fair to your neighbor you have no idea exactly what the camera is looking at, just the general direction it's pointing. They probably have it zoomed in on their yard. How about going over there and saying you're concerned and ask to see the feed? |

Are there lots of cars arriving all day long and night at his house ? If so I suspect he has need of security because of his profession ! |

What should (s)he do instead, may I ask? Personally, I would get a few neighbours (group power) along to find out more about the content recorded from the CCTV camera. Cheers :) |
