So here's the question

Last owner of the house has left a skydish. If my friend buys a satellite receiver for freeview can he just hook it up and it'll set to go or will she need hook up with sky before hooking up with freeview

but that wouldn't make sense because they are two different company. My friend was told having a satellite doesn't give you any bonus because you need to join sky before you can join freeview?

One of the aerial installation company told me that he can't tell the difference in quality between the Satellite and the HD UHF antenna .

The Satellite dish which plugs into the receiver is Blue,Red,Green and the audio is still analogue while HD uses a HDMI cable and its purely digital.

The Red,Green,Blue is slightly better than the yellow, white, red input but not as good as High Definition

Im sure there are difference between in quality?

You can just plug into a sattelite dish for that service. No need to subscribe to Sky.

The UHF HD service via HDMI is definitely better picture quality.

If there is a Sky dish on the roof then all you need to do is get a Freeview Satellite set-top-box.

In regards to the picture difference between the two freeview services, not all the programs are actually HD. Most of the time it is SD upscaled to HD resolution, which does look great but it's not as good as watching one of actual HD programs like NCIS.
The freeview satellite service has better picture quality than standard Sky Digital!
