733986 2009-01-01 20:14:00 I know this is a growing trend on these forums, as I see quite a few people have had similar problems.

On Boxing Day, I bought a JVC Video camera. As soon as I bought it, I opened it up and saw that the instructions and CDROM was missing. I took it back to DSE, they said that it was the last camera they had in stock and that they couldn't find the CD or instructions. I arranged to have it couriered to my house. On Tuesday (just gone) the video camera was sent and we were notified and told that we should recieve it on Tuesday or on Wednesday. We recieved it on neither of those days and so late Wednesday, we tracked it and saw that it had been delivered the previous day around 1:00pm. We had a talk to the courier and he said that the parcel was unmarked so he just left it in the letterbox. This led us to the conclusion that our camera was stolen out of our letterbox. I think it would be very unlikely that something would get stolen out of my letterbox, as it's on the main road, my mum's business is just up the road and the thief would weigh the chances of getting caught and not steal it because at anytime, we could drive into our driveway and see, my mum could come out of her business, etc.

The other thing that is really weird is that I don't think a video camera can fit in a letterbox.

What do I do from now???

Contact DSE and tell them. They need to open an investigation with the courier company.

733988 2009-01-02 00:47:00 I got told that by PBT - who supposedly delivered an 8800GTX to my letterbox.
The supplier claimed it, I got credit as there were no more, the PBT driver gotr the bill and fired.

if it was a "sign for" package, then make it the problem for the courier comapny, they can't just leave it in the letter box..

if it was not a "sign for" package, then make it the problem of DSE, they should not post high value electronics with our being a "sign for" package.

733990 2009-01-02 02:17:00 robsonde - as has been mentioned in other threads about poor courier service, even if it is a "signature required" delivery, often the drivers just sign their own name and leave the package somewhere .

This is the problem with being paid "by the piece" - the drivers don't want to hang around looking for someone - they'd rather be moving to the next pick-up/delivery .

These overnight guys are only getting a few cents per package, so to them, it's not worth their while spending time hunting for someone to sign or contacting base for alternative delivery instructions . And so customer service goes straight out the window (to blow around in the street) .

I used to be a motorcycle courier: London 2 years, Auckland 5 years, so I know what goes on . Although point-to-point couriers, being better paid per piece (at least when I was doing it), tend(ed) to be more pedantic about signatures .

For sure .
I had one threaten to take the stuff and leave because I made him wait while I rang my supplier to confirm one was missing .

if the package is a "signature required" delivery then I have a contract that the package won't be left with out a signature .
