733917 2009-01-01 01:56:00 just having a quick look at air con at the moment. looking for one for our new workshop. unfortunately our old one will be to small for the large room (6mx9mx4m).

any one know what sort of price a 8-10kw one would go for?
install cost?
a non-inverter one will be fine as it will probably run non stop anyway due to all the heat from the machines.

i was wondering about the dual systems. can you run one hot in one room and cold in another ?

It seems to be cheaper to get an installer to quote for a unit (including installation fees) rather than trying to source them separately. We put in several Mitsubishi Electric ones this winter, and the quote we got from the installer for the units + materials + labour was cheaper than we could buy the units for on their own at a place like Harvey Norman. I think in the end 3 units (2x 3.5kw and 1x 2.5kw) cost us around $9000 installed.

One thing you will need to consider with the domestic style heatpumps/aircon units is dust clogging up the filters - depending on what you do in your workshop, you may need to look at the ducted ones, rather than the standard wall-mounted recirculating ones which are common in residential installations.
