736883 2009-01-10 05:01:00 Hey all,

So I setup eyeOS on my VPS server I have hosted at the ICONZ datacenter and its running surprisingly well!

It's quite 'cut-down' in terms of "stuff", but I added Meebo for an IM client, a few other bits n pieces like an Email Client, Themes, Gmail access, and its actually quite cool!

I can definitely see this kind of technology taking off in the near future

Anyways, has anybody else uses eyeOS, what're your thoughts on it? Used any alternatives?

Cheers

Chill.

736884 2009-01-10 05:22:00 browser based... does that mean it requires the internet to do everything? pcuser7895 (12979)
736885 2009-01-10 06:01:00 It means it runs entirely from your Web Browser :)

Most of the computing happens on the server-end from what I can see

Im still not entirely sure about using the likes of Meebo, whether the connection "terminates" at the client-end, or if it does on the server, and the server simply displays / passes it on to the client?
