2009-12-27 07:48:00 i have finished building my PC and have successfully installed the new OS ( vista with a free upgrade which i haven't installed yet as i have to order it ) but when i installed all of the updates through windows update something went wrong with the Ethernet driver and now i cant connect to the internet ( i am using my other PC ) not only that i cant seem to find a restore point before the updates were installed and now i have no idea how to solve this issue any help would be greatly appreciated. smithinator (15240)
2009-12-27 07:53:00 Install the LAN drivers from the cd the mobo came with. And dont forget to install the inf / chipset drivers first. DON'T install any drivers from windowsupdate. Some arent reliable. Thats why drivers COME on the CD. And why theyre on the mobo maker's site Speedy Gonzales (78)
2009-12-27 08:01:00 should i uninstall the old faulty drivers first and if so how do i do this? smithinator (15240)
2009-12-27 08:04:00 No just reinstall the LAN drivers, (from the mobo CD), they should install over whats installed. Do the same for the sound. Install the chipset drivers first Speedy Gonzales (78)
2009-12-27 08:07:00 so reinstall all of the drivers on the mobo cd? smithinator (15240)
2009-12-27 08:19:00 Thats right, chipset / inf drivers first, then it may need a reboot, then install the LAN and sound/audio drivers Speedy Gonzales (78)
