2009-12-23 06:36:00 | I want to look at Indie Community games and more specifically use an app called Kudo to create XBox games. Problem is that the Indie community does not appear in the games market... and when I try to download an Indie content via the XBox website, I get a "content expired or... something along the lines of your region is possibly the issue. The help desk and Microsoft's help docs all say that NZ is on the allowed list for Indie content. Can anyone in NZ confirm or deny that they get the Indie Community (Indie Games) on their XBox? I've gone through and dealt settings with family settings, member content and privacy. I've read elsewhere that NZ doesn't get Indie games, despite Microsoft saying otherwise. While I'm here, I had a look at XBox Live movies... was stunned at the speed at which things were up and running. Admittedly just previews. But made Youtube look silly, based on speed and quality. You'd need an uncapped data plan though... and for Microsoft to add more than a handful of reasonable releases.

2009-12-23 07:09:00 | Hi Myke, it's called Community Games officially, you're right that there's a whole channel of indie games but it's only available for people to play in the US, Canada, UK and a few countries in Europe . I think it's possible to develop from NZ and publish overseas, according to this site: . xna . com/en-US/newregionsfordevelopment" target="_blank">creators . xna . com There's a cool game made in NZ too! http://sharky . bluecog . co . nz/ The main development tool for it is the free XNA Game Studio add-on which works with Visual Studio, both the free and paid versions . There's a whole website about it that should have heaps more info: . xna . com/en-US/" target="_blank">creators . xna . com cheers W

2009-12-23 08:07:00 | Thanks . . . Yeah I've heard of XNA . . . But that is a whole different level to what I'm looking at, Kudo is like visual programming . You can get Kudo for a PC, and basically programme a game with an XBox controller . But i want to create the games on an XBox . According to Microsoft's own documentation, we should be able to access the Indie Community . See the summary in . . . . microsoft . com/kb/958228?sd=xbox" target="_blank">support . microsoft . com It should appear on the DashBoard The Game Marketplace is separated into the following sections to make finding content easy: * Arcade * Game Add-Ons * Xbox Originals * Themes & Gamer Pictures * Indie Games * Game Demos * Game Videos * All Games I'm not seeing any Indie games . I think you're right we are being stung, cause of our region . Yet Microsoft say that we can play . Annoying . Cheers Hi Myke, it's called Community Games officially, you're right that there's a whole channel of indie games but it's only available for people to play in the US, Canada, UK and a few countries in Europe . | 842618 | 2009-12-23 10:18:00 | To get an Xbox 360 online, you have to configure it under my Xbox / settings / network settings. Under this, there's configure network / basic settings option. You have to give it an IP (within the router's valid ip range), / subnet mask (the Xbox should put this in, once you give it an IP, and gateway (the router's ip). There's also an additional settings on the right on this screen, dont fill in anything..Its not needed. Once you do the above save the settings. Then you have to login to the router and add ports for the Xbox to get onto the net. If the router has a DMZ option, use that its easier for some (like me) to get the Xbox to connect. All you do is add the ip (yours maybe different) that you added (where' I'm put it in bold above). Then save the settings in the router/ reboot it. Then to test it, you go back to the Xbox / my Xbox / system settings / network settings, then click on test Xbox live connection. If it gets to the end, you've configured it properly. Once it passes, you have to set up your Xbox Live / hotmail account (if you use messenger etc its the same username / password). I'll tell you when i remember lol..(atm, I have to switch between the PC and Xbox, since the Xbox is connected to this monitor with HDMI). Its once you setup the Xbox live account, it'll tell you there's an update available (a system update). If the interface on yours is the interface on the left (support.xbox.com) (where it says change your console on the left), after the update it'll look like the right (once you update the Xbox 360, you'll also have an avatar). And a few of the latest updates also add Netflix (which probably isnt available in NZ), twitter, (cant remember which one of these need a gold acct, to create it on the xbox if you use one of them) and facebook Hopefully, your Xbox hasnt been modded in any way, or else you will get banned once you connect to Xbox live The info here may also help (support.xbox.com)

Yeah Kudo looks like fun, I wish I could get my hands on it too . According to Microsoft's own documentation, we should be able to access the Indie Community . See the summary in . . . . microsoft . com/kb/958228?sd=xbox" target="_blank">support . microsoft . com It should appear on the DashBoard Interesting that site says so, it's not what I'd heard . If I look at the US Xbox marketplace site ( . xbox . com/en-us/games/default . htm" target="_blank">marketplace . xbox . com), I see the Indie games . If I look at the NZ version ( . xbox . com/en-nz/games/default . htm" target="_blank">marketplace . xbox . com), that column isn't there . Maybe someone with a US Xbox or account (Speedy?) would see the Indie games, I'm not sure . If you don't get an answer here you could also try the NZ Xbox forums ( . xbox . com/210/ShowForum . aspx" target="_blank">forums . xbox . com), they are bound to have someone who knows . cheers W |

2009-12-23 10:44:00 | Here's some of the games in Indie games this (www.imagef1.net.nz) this (www.imagef1.net.nz) this (www.imagef1.net.nz) I'm in NZ not the US. So, it may not be there, if you havent updated the Xbox. If you go to My Xbox / system settings / / console settings / system info, it should say D:2.0.8955.0 and K:2.0.8995.0 (which is the latest update) which also adds Wireless N capability
