737055 2009-01-11 00:01:00 really? so if u buy an install DVD it will let u install windows on it as many times as u like untill the DVD has broken pcuser7895 (12979)
737056 2009-01-11 00:08:00 Why not?

Thats if you want to reinstall it / do a clean install obviously.

Any other version of Windows, will let you install it numerous times (on the same system)

Why would Vista / Windows 7 be any different?

737057 2009-01-11 00:16:00 but if u can't downgrade, u will have to reinstall and the number of installs on a
DVD is limited so i said SOME people meaning the people that had already used all their installs and had upgraded to 7 on their last install.

What do you mean the number of installs is limited? You can reinstall an OS as many times as you want. From what I have heard the beta of 7 is very stable, but it should should never be installed on a PC you use every day as your main computer. Youshould only instal it on a secondary computer.

737058 2009-01-11 00:28:00 Windows 7 is running fine as a VMWare VM for me. Not having much luck with fre a/v software however, not worried about viruses, as its not the main o\s.

I like it so far, no annoying pop up for user rights, very quick boot too!

737059 2009-01-11 00:58:00 Speedy are you running windows 7 yet?

For those that are worried about win7 expiring on aug 1st if you get a key that is not a MS key you can keep on running it past that date so my friend told me any way he did the same with vista when it first came out and he still ran the beta past the expiry date

737060 2009-01-11 01:00:00 Nope, I didnt download Windows 7.

I've got no blank DVD's anyway. Besides running it in VirtualPC

737061 2009-01-11 04:20:00 Have any of you Vista-haters used Vista or 7 as your main OS for more than a day?

Yes I have.
Both an "as is" install and again with Vlite.
Neither impressed me.
But then I like my O/Ss as minimal as possible.
