That's not correct.

736195 2009-01-08 23:51:00 Windows 7 beta will install as a full install on a blank drive, no problems at all, it has the option to upgrade if an earlier version of windows is installed. wainuitech (129)

The original MS release notes were badly worded. The intention of them was "if you're going to upgrade, then you'll need Vista SP1". Instead, people interpreted them as "you need to upgrade from Vista SP1".

736197 2009-01-09 01:04:00 BETA.

Buggy Exasperating Troublesome Awful.

736198 2009-01-09 01:29:00 Personally I haven't had any problems yet, and so far it's been better than the betas of XP and Vista. I haven't done any "stress tests" yet though, and so far everything's been under VMware. I'm going to try it on real hardware once I get a new DVD drive, and use it as my secondary OS (it'll be the only OS on that machine, but it's my secondary machine). Nermal (7077)

Right. Like you have time for that."

736201 2009-01-09 09:56:00 At least MS are warning people - remember its BETA - its not a RTM yet - so some bugs are to be expected.
Its also NOT meant to be used as a main OS at the moment - any one who does is asking for trouble.

736202 2009-01-09 10:56:00 MMmm... Keep it on a separate comp, not a main one.. I can just see the forums 48 hours from now, littered with threads: "Help, I br0ked my PC with Win7 Beta coz I dunno what Im doin!"
:p

Better yet, run it in a VM, the new EULA allows it apparently
