843324 2009-12-27 04:05:00 Some MSI boards have a bug with the onboard sound related to using the Mic input and certain PSUs...

How do you know it's the video card?

843325 2009-12-27 04:09:00 Have a read of this (theovalich.wordpress.com). On some cards its a coil that makes this noise. And Nvidia cards by the looks of it are known to create this squeal. Which, Nvidia hasnt bothered to fix. You havent installed anything that uses this folding@home thing have you?? Speedy Gonzales (78)

Nah. Never heard of it.

Although.... I just searched Folding@home came up with a folder, will uninstall now.. Interesting

843327 2009-12-27 04:15:00 I know some drivers install it (the ATI drivers have this option), when you go to install them. Just untick it, so it wont install it Speedy Gonzales (78)

But in that case, it's the card itself the causes the noise due to vibrating parts. However - if the sound is coming out only in the audio output of the soundcard, it may be a different cause.

843329 2009-12-27 04:20:00 Well it sounds like the sound is knackered somewhere anyway. Since the audio on the back doesnt work Speedy Gonzales (78)
843330 2009-12-27 04:24:00 May not be. Some of the front panel audio headers are wired in series with the rear jacks. If you take off the front panel connector you must jumper the left and right output to the left and right return if you want the rear green jack to do anything

But that would only be if this board was designed that particular way...

What is the motherboard being used here?

843331 2009-12-27 04:30:00 Its in his other post I think (the crashing one) this (uk.asus.com). Thats what most mobos do. Youre meant to remove the jumpers on the AAFP panel, to get the rear audio to work. Speedy Gonzales (78)
843332 2009-12-27 04:38:00 Well after uninstalling that program. The Squealing has seem to disappeared but now it's gone fuzzy. Which may just be these headphones as they were a really really cheap pair

Edit: Or not. The Speakers are fuzzy aswell.
