| 842622 | 2009-12-25 07:38:00 | Thanks Speedy G... Still haven't got it working yet, and the XBox help desk seem to ignore what I write and decide what they think my problem is. I pretty much from day one been able to connect to XBox Live, download trials and recently preview vids. Just can't see the Indie Games. Configuring seemed to be fine, I'm running the XBox wirelessly. I hadn't set up any ports. Just found instructions on how to do this on my 2wire router. See how this goes, fingers crossed. |

I seemed to have had everything working fine, even before playing with adding ports. Just no Indie games. Downloaded a couple of trials and the Avatar Trailer. I've tested without any joy. Frustrating as... Maybe I should test via a network cable, not sure if this would make any diff. |

I wouldnt use wireless for games. You'll probably get disconnected a lot. Use wired. And have you created an MSN / Xbox live account / gamertag? Not too sure if you'll only get it if you have a gold account?? I used a Gold acct code (for a month), that came with one of the games I purchased. | Speedy Gonzales (78) | ||
| 842626 | 2009-12-27 06:04:00 | I want to look at Indie Community games and more specifically use an app called Kudo to create XBox games. Problem is that the Indie community does not appear in the games market... and when I try to download an Indie content via the XBox website, I get a "content expired or... something along the lines of your region is possibly the issue. The help desk and Microsoft's help docs all say that NZ is on the allowed list for Indie content. Can anyone in NZ confirm or deny that they get the Indie Community (Indie Games) on their XBox? I've gone through and dealt settings with family settings, member content and privacy. I've read elsewhere that NZ doesn't get Indie games, despite Microsoft saying otherwise. While I'm here, I had a look at XBox Live movies... was stunned at the speed at which things were up and running. Admittedly just previews. But made Youtube look silly, based on speed and quality. You'd need an uncapped data plan though... and for Microsoft to add more than a handful of reasonable releases. I'm having the exact same problem; I'm running the latest version of the interface and have a gold account but still no indie games. I tried calling microsoft, but the woman I spoke to had no idea what I was talking about. She suggested getting a gold account (which I did) but still no indie games. I'm beginning to think it has to be a region thing; but as others have said, that seems contradictory to what I've read in some places. I'm going to try calling them again on monday, but this time, I'm going to keep calling them back until I get someone who knows what they are talking about. I'll keep you updated on my progress. Man, this thing is making me angry. The fact that the customer service person I contacted the other day lied to me, the amount of bullshit I had to go through to prevent my gold account from automattically billing me every month, and the fact that the region information for XBLIG contradicts itself has left a bad taste in my mouth. I should have bought a playstation 3. Oh and my Xbox is on a wired connection and my modem's region is set to NZ. (Well the time zone is, is that what I have to configure?) |

David what number did you call to get through to Microsoft? I'll see how you go before I bother trying to call. Hadn't thought about region/timezone on the modem... might look into that one. The last update I was asked about was something for Zune (I said yes). I've got the Twitter and Facebook channels... Once the wife and Inlaws get off the TV, I'll check that update number. Would have thought that I would have been asked recently if I didn't have it... as there seems to be no way to do this manually. I wonder if it is worth creating a new Live account for testing purposes. Bugging me... Good luck David. Let me know hoe you go. |

| 842628 | 2009-12-27 08:09:00 | Has it told you that there is an update?? It should come up with a window, you click on YES. It'll download and update the xbox (if your Xbox had the old interface / dashboard, it'll update it to the new / NXE interface). You can update an Xbox manually its here (www.xbox.com). Altho, I havent used this file. You unzip it then burn it as is to a cd. Then chuck it in the Xbox. It'll update it. Leave it till it finishes. Or as it says extract it to a flash drive. Make sure its formatted in FAT32, as it says above |
