842727 2009-12-24 03:13:00 022 - it's all within NZ. wratterus (105)
842728 2009-12-24 03:16:00 Thanks,

Whenever i try to save a contact, it displays it as +6422xxxxxxx, so I was just wondering.

Mine does the same thing but I find it doesn't make a difference (whether I save the contact as +6422 or 022).

842732 2009-12-24 04:14:00 +64 means "0"

You would *have* to use "+64 22 12345678" were you overseas, but in NZ it's easier to simply write "022 12345678". It's the same thing.

Can be done with any Cell number for that matter, or same for dialing landlines with area codes such as "09 280 1234" could also be "+64 9 280 1234"

842733 2009-12-24 06:21:00 Yeah it doesn't matter. On a old Nokia 6210 I think or a 5110 when I was oveseas with a Vodafone International Roaming.

You can dial +64-21xxxxxx for a NZ Voda or just 021 xxxxxx - the same thing.

But when I was overseas roaming, and I call 021 xxxxxx - it would automatically adjust my number for me to 64-21-xxxxxxx. Maybe that was my Voda simcard recognizing ...

If you have people overseas who you call and text with, using the longer format may be good too ... so you use their own respective country codes.

842734 2009-12-24 06:32:00 Thanks guys! Sir Prospect (14735)
842735 2009-12-24 07:37:00 I've always stored numbers with the country code included. That avoids problem when you get a local SIM card e.g. in Central Europe. Numbers stored in your phone with country included will still work.
If you get local SIM and dial 022 nnnnnn you may get some local saying "Nemluvim anglicky! Mluvite česky prosim?"
Now how would you deal with that?
