1447036 2018-03-05 09:43:00 Anyone else still not received an access code in the mail? Our next post won't be until Wednesday the 7th, i.e. after census day is supposed to be over.

Ours are done but there is such a shambles with so many not receiving their codes or thinking they were junk mail. We found our neighbour's access notification on top of our mail box, it had been opened by someone other than the neighbour.
I wondered very early on about the wisdom of even trusting them to NZ Post without the logistical nightmare it has become.

1447038 2018-03-05 18:30:00 or thinking they were junk mail

It did look like that - I gave mine the biff initially thinking it was a marketing brochure/preamble and the real joy was still to come.

Just as well I checked it again.

1447039 2018-03-05 19:20:00 Geez, people, it was well advertised, I knew immediately what it was. As for being opened so?
I did ours, household, me, husband...then gave it to son to do his bit. He could see mine, I could see his...and? If anyone had done it, you could then correct it, so, who cares?

1447040 2018-03-05 19:29:00 Ours was hand delivered by a volunteer since they do not send to PO boxes and down here deliveries stop at the bridge. We are 5km past the bridge, everyone down here had them delivered by this guy. I talked with him as some of the driveways are difficult to find.

We are one of at least six residents not currently living in a traditional house down this road.

1447041 2018-03-05 20:33:00 Unfortunately, the very people who need to be counted will be the ones who don't bother , or cant do it online

Its a mess. I bet they get the lowest participation ever.
Thing are not the same as 10 years ago.

Other things more interesting to people in these times, but as you point out well publicized.

I made a mistake on the income section, Veterans' allowance, went back once and corrected it, then thought it was correct (laptop boxes very small) and said to myself WTF file it.

Sent an email to the query people and their reply ! "don't worry about it" it's not relevant and that the detailed Census output was confidential.

1447043 2018-03-06 01:30:00 Well, on a positive note, this census will have consumed the least carbon and resources of any previous census, and carbon/resources are the emerging currency that we all will need to respect.

Seemed kind of nuts in the past to send people to EVERY residence in the country, once to deliver paper forms and explain the process, and again to collect them, and then bums on seats for months keying in all the results.
Gotta wonder if they deliver forms to DOC huts? Or to carparks throughout town that have loads of people sleeping in them?

1447044 2018-03-06 02:18:00 The census form appeared to be very simple and straight forward, but, a big but, you couldn't scroll forwards or backwards to browse the rest of the forms forms before filling in, neither was there any machanism to review and correct after submitting ......... ooops I made a mistake.............too late too bad...junk in junk out.

Anyone who has written a report knows well that the eye can repeatedly miss seeing an error, that's why there are proof readers..

In my case I thought I had filled it out correctly, but when I came to call up my wifes form, it said she was
"Away" and there wasn't any need to fill one in.
Beats me how that happened. If there is any come back, then el tougho.
