1446489 2018-02-19 21:54:00 I have a Nexus 9 tablet, running the latest iteration of Android OS, so this may not be useful to you. However, I use it with Chromecast. When you select a movie in Netflix, when the screen first appears, the Chromecast icon appears upper right screen, and you select the TV you have networked with (the one to which the Chromecast dongle is attached). I have a Samsung TV, and once you are casting to it, the tv remote will play, pause, and stop the movie (the controls on the tablet are a bit clunky - the remote is more responsive).

Have you tried updating the OS on your tablet?

Have you tried updating the OS on your tablet? That is of interest. Unfortunately my Tablet has the latest OS and cannot be ungraded to cast to a Chromecast. I am not sure is Netflix is worth all my trouble.

Have you tried the Google Home app, that seems to have Chromecast integration?? Though if you are running anything earlier than Android 5 you may be out of luck..

1446492 2018-02-20 02:53:00 I got an Apple TV, only because it comes with a remote, rather than having to use a phone or something else. It's great! Easy to set up and easy to use. Only problem is TV won't automatically revert to HDMI1 when I stop using it. Richard (739)

1446494 2018-02-20 03:42:00 Apple TVs are widely available from electronics stores such as Noel Leeming or Harvey N. HDMI isn't a glitch it is just that my TV is a bit intellectually handicapped. The Apple TV automatically changes the input to HDMI-2 when it is used, but after closing I have to reset the TV to HDMI-1 which is my Sky box input. Richard (739)

1446497 2018-02-20 19:52:00 If you have a tablet older than that I admire your perseverance :) I've been through several in that time. What Tablet do you recommend for my replacement.? Pato (2463)
1446498 2018-02-20 20:19:00 What Tablet do you recommend for my replacement.?

Really depends on your budget. Mostly I'd recommend something with android 7 or better and at least 2-3GB of RAM, the rest is mainly nice to have rather than required. A micro SD slot is worth having too if you want to put your music collection on it or something.
I guess what I'm saying is look for the features you want rater than a specific model, checking the screen out in person doesn't hurt. I have a Samsung Tab S2 bought a year ago because I got tired of owning mediocre mid range tablets, cost a bit under $900 at the time and has been superseded by the Tab S3 now. I'm still very happy with it, but you'd want to be at that price.

But the difference in higher end tablets is mainly things like nicer screen, thinner tablet, better battery, nothing that actually helps if you want to just watch netflix on the TV for example.
Having the latest 8 core powerhouse CPU is not particularly important for surfing the web or checking E-mail either. They do tend to update the high end tablets for a little longer before abandoning them though.

Something I've had good luck with is to wait for a new release and then look for last years model on trademe, the upgrade junkies tend to sell them off sometimes at very good prices.
