1446480 2018-02-19 04:15:00 Are you sure your tablet can't do it? I just looked up requirements and about the only definite limitation is android 4.4 or better and a decent internet connection / wi-fi speed. That's pretty easy to meet.
If you have a tablet older than that I admire your perseverance :) I've been through several in that time. It's a Samsung Tab2 GT-P5110 and only V4.2.2. I don't use it very much that is why I haven't bothered to upgrade.

1446481 2018-02-19 04:17:00 Some wont do Netflix, the slightly more expensive ones claim to.

Go to aliexpress and search for Chromecast. For the prices, if they dont work 100% or dont last long its no big deal. Places in NZ are advertising around $69

May order one next week.

1446482 2018-02-19 04:21:00 Thanks. I think there are other devices like Roku etc that do the same job so I guess more research. Unless someone else comes up with a suggestion. Appreciate your help. Pato (2463)
1446483 2018-02-19 04:45:00 I have a Chromecast, we look up what we want to watch on our desktop PC using the Chrome browser, then when we find something, hit the Chromecast icon inside the browser and it pops up on the TV.

No WiFi required on the PC (just the normal LAN connection) and when the cast starts, it starts from the beginning of the video, even if you have watched the first bit on the PC.

1446484 2018-02-19 05:25:00 My advice would be to go with Chromecast. I tried a cheap copy about 6 months ago - an "Anycast" - steer clear; I could never get it to work at all. Just this weekend a friend gave me a superflous Chromecast retired to make way for some new gadget with all the bells and whistles.

Long story short, I installed the Chromecast (or more correctly it did it automatically for me) with no drama whatsoever, and everything works. Now, I have a redundant 10m HDMI cable ... oh, and a bit of plastic with wires sticking out of it called an Anycast :)

1446485 2018-02-19 06:27:00 If you have your PC conected to your wifi enabled router you can use the Chrome browser on the PC to cast to the chromecast on your TV. It will work just fine but will mean going to your PC to start, stop or change programs. That would take the fun out of it for me casting from a tablet or smartphone is a lot like just using another remote control. The Chromecast device works realy well and has to be one of the easiest things I have ever set up. CliveM (6007)

have was setting it up with the PC in another room. but wainui tried it and it didn't appear to be a problem.

The one I have at present is a simple Vodafone Smart II which was all I needed. Pato (2463)
