| 738212 | 2009-01-13 05:48:00 | In Auckland we have an awful lot of choice when it comes to who we purchase our tech needs from. I have to drive quite a long way , I live up in Whangaparaoa, so a shop in Albany isn't really that much closer than one in the CBD. Imagine my joy though when a new place opened, I'm talking "Playtech" here, I mean you can only shop at PBTech so many times, I'm there so much I'm sure they think I'm a shop lifter. My wife and I called into Playtech on Saturday and had a good look around, the first thing we noticed was that almost nothing has a price on it. There are plenty of stickers with codes on so that the staff can scan them, I'm only presuming this because no one came to help us. I thought that as it was a weekend day and just after Xmas, well the staff maybe a little lax.So I called in again today. I'm in the market for an Eeee, or something similar, and playtech have 64gig flash drives which could be a really nice way to boost the storage capabilities of the Eee. The 700 series can be picked up pretty cheap, and a comparison between all models and options seems a good idea to me. I'm also thinking about buying a Nintendo NS, they can be used to make digital music which I'm pretty keen on at the moment, so as you can see I'm not a tyre kicker and have a few bucks to spend. 20 minutes was how long I stood around being ignored by every single staff member, well , me and some other guy. In fact we had a conversation about retail service in NZ, both agreeing that it has got to be the worst in the western world. You'd think that as the recession bites, those that know how to give good service will be the survivors , and that sooner or later people are going to have to lift their game. As far as I'm concerned, Playtech won't be getting any of my money, and if they fold I won't cry. I know that some of you will ague that the pay is rubbish and the hours are long..but there must be some spotty teenagers out there with a work ethic? Me, I'm sick of having to wait in cafes while a really important phone conversation is completed, man. I'm sick of being treated like an idiot when I ask a question. I really hate being told all about why I should buy that extra warranty even though I've explained that I'm not interested...hey, I don't have to give you a reason why i don't want it ! And if you don't take credit cards, I don't mind spending down the road. But every now and then you run into a good retailer. I needed to find a driver for my wifes new lappie, so I called into the shop where i purchased it to see if the guy could help me out. He just did what I should have done, d/l off the net. But he went one step further, he put it on a flash drive for me, and gave me the drive for nothing. You know thats where I'll be buying my next lappie, (well i won't, I'm a Mac guy, but my wife will be ), no hang on, I'm after an Eeee...guess I'll call in there after all, they sell Just Laptops. That was a not so subtle attempt at a free ad ....( they deserve it )hopefully they already advertise in PCWorld! Thanks for the forum so that i can rant, I feel soo much better. |

Not a very good ad since you don't even mention the name of the place that gave you the good service :xmouth: |

| 738214 | 2009-01-13 05:56:00 | Yes the NZ service is getting worse. There used to be a shop here in Nelson where I bought all my outdoor stuff from you could go in there any time for a chat with the owners, Husband and Wife owner operators, I have had them tell customers in the past to ignore me as I'm only there for a chat and probably wont buy anything and that I only went for the abuse. It was such a pity when Dessert Island, I mean Fashion Island was built and they couldn't afford the new rents so closed up. | gary67 (56) | ||

| 738220 | 2009-01-13 06:20:00 | I don't know whether it's the retail downturn, or what, but I've recently received some absolutely fantastic service from a particular online retailer (I won't name them yet until I've finished dealing with them). I wanted to return an item under warranty, to get a faulty part replaced. Since their distributor's rep for this product was away on holiday, they said that it might take a bit longer, but in the meantime went out of their way to arrange for a replacement which I could borrow while I had to wait for an RMA number from their distributor. I'm a very happy customer as a result of this. |

Tapped the enter key so that there is white space to help you out. Have you ever read a book? Not a lot of white space in those apart from the margins. I must admit that I sometimes have problems with comprehension on some posts on PressF1. |
