737565 2009-01-12 01:57:00 LCDs use quite a bit less. My 40" Sony LCD uses only 185w.

737566 2009-01-12 02:15:00 Make sure you check the picture balances. Many plasmas come from the shop with contrast etc at 100% as they want to show the best picture when the signal is stretched to many TV and they shop has lots of lights on...

I have the 37" Viera and get My Sky HDi on Friday, so looking forward to some nice quality signal.....

Just a little off topic...I friend showed me his new Samsung 40" LCD 720p HD screen the other day, he has freeview...I didnt know that their HD content was only on UHF?. I have to say I was disappointed with the picture, it had a few vertical lines here and there and I guess thats due to the analogue HD signal not as good as sky. Can anyone confirm?

The signal is digital over UHF (DTT) and I would say your friend needs to get their signal/aerial checked.
The times when I have been in Auckland and seen Freeview|HD it has been awesome!

Not that I have seen the two side by side on the same TV, I would say Freeview has a better picture then SkyHD. I must say I'm a little disapointed in sky HD. When contract is up I will be reverting back to telstra and getting freeview HD

737570 2009-01-12 02:35:00 So energy efficient TV will save me about $80 a year, if I use it everyday for 8hrs....LMAO!

I am glad we dont have silly politicians deciding what we are allowed to buy like in Europe!

Sony isn't crap. Its just the difference between the 2 technologies.
And picking another decent brand.
