737517 2009-01-11 22:00:00 What is involved with having phone and tolls with the ISP rather than Telecom?

It is not something I have ever thought about changing really.

Does the Telecom bills stop coming and the phone charges added to the monthly ISP Bill?
Does the number change?
I assume I am still in Whitepages if I change.
Do I dial different numbers (prefixes) to get people or overseas or is everything just the same as it is now?

Yes.

No.

Yes.

You can have phone, tolls and broadband with another company or you can split them all between companies, however you like it.

At home I have the 3 with one company.

At my premises I have phone with one, and tolls and broadband with another.
Phone number is the same unless you go onto another ISPs own equipment.

Like Orcon -- there numbers for their own exchanges is a 550 number.
You can keep your original number if you wish though.

I was looking at switching plans with Ihug/Vodafone. They seem to offer the cheapest 20Gb plan but they want my phone in order to do it. Looked at most of the other companies and don't really see anything I like better at all.

My current plan does not include phone, but is prone to slow downs which I assume is the "Fair Use" bull sh*t policy kicking in quite regularly if I get a decent speed up or do much more than about 5-600 Mb in a day.

Been with Ihug since they first began and ICONZ for a couple of years prior to that. Never had any major problems.
