| 844067 | 2009-12-29 11:03:00 | Hi there, I realise it's my first post, just need a little help confirming that these parts are not a rip off, and are adequate for my needs. To cut a long story short, I got my four and half thousand dollar laptop stolen at the beginning of '09, and I'm about to study Audio engineering next year- so obviously I need a computer that handles complex audio and enables me to surf, listen to music, and produce music. I also game when time provides, however in the interest of study coming first, I have decided to forego the graphics card for the moment, and purchase it when I have additional funds. I have also decided to purchase the soundcard at a later date. Forgive me if I seem particularly out of touch, over a year ago I was quite up-to-date with computer hardware, but have fallen somewhat under the radar recently. This is the system I have researched and spec'd up. CPU INTEL CORE I5 750 2.66 GHZ PROCESSOR SOCKET 1156 (8MB) OEM - $276.00 from PC Pacific (www.pcpacific.net) Motherboard GIGABYTE GA-P55-UD3R INTEL P55 CHIPSET SOCKET 1156 , 4X DDR3-200 - $189.00 Also from PC Pacific (www.pcpacific.net) Memory Kingston ValueRAM Memory 4 GB(2x2 GB) DIMM 240-pin DDR3 1333 MHz/PC3-10600 CL9 1.5 V unbuffered non-ECC-$188.00 From Paradigm PCs (www.pp.co.nz) HDD Western Digital Black Caviar GP 750GB SATA 3 Gb/s 7200RPM 32MB C - $180.00 From Future PC (www.futurepc.co.nz) Optical Drive Lite-On LH22A8S SATA 22X Dual Layer DVDRW - $45.00 From OC Zone (www.oczone.co.nz) Case Cooler Master Centurion 5 Pure Black Color with 430W PSU -$148.00 From PC Mart (www.pcmart.co.nz) Am looking at a total of $1030.00 or there abouts. A few questions; Does the mobo have onboard video that I can use while I go 'GFX cardless'? Will that powersupply be adequate for a decent GFX card in the future? Thanks in advance people! Luke |

I personally would put a Corsair PSU in it. And it all depends on what graphics card you intend to get as to what sort of watts you will need. |

Probably better to get a case and seperate PSU then? Am looking at a $250-300 range GFX card, 500w PSU should be enough right? |
