(this thread is about the ownership of tourism business and the fact that a non kiwi is giving us a bad rep - not whether the company should have charged the family - there is another thread for that)

I still think it is sad that so many non-kiwis own tourism businesses in NZ. And they clip the ticket all the way.

If I went to China on holiday I would like to be shown round by Chinese, and be served by Chinese. Not Kiwis or Europeans.
In that essence I can sort of agree with you. The way my people do business can be very different to others. But in the end, they are all businesses, and you can't really guarantee the rental company would have waived off the fee even if the owner was Kiwi/Aussie/American/Spanish/whatever.

And like it or not, The Chinese covers pretty much every jobs you can think of, anywhere, anytime. I don't like the idea of Chinese taking over NZ, but I guess with over a billion people it's only a matter of time.....:(

So you would travel all the way to China an be worried about the skin colour or ethnicity of the people serving you?

You wouldn't be there to see China?

I think you're just prejudiced. Plain and simple. People are people - what does it matter where they come from or what their skin colour is?

738599 2009-01-14 23:20:00 The people there are what make the experiance.

If I went to China and everyone there was a kiwi/European then where's the fun in that?

738600 2009-01-14 23:28:00 Umm, sorry guys but he IS Chinese. I saw him myself, the dude is Chinese.

So he is of Chinese origin. Although how you tell someone is Chinese by looking at them I don't know, he could be Taiwanese, Thai, Cambodian, Japanese, etc etc.

Perhaps he was even born in China.
So what.
He lives in NZ, that makes him a New Zealander.
One trying to make a living running a small business.
And?

Tourists come over and do stupid things all the time. WHy should he lose money because of that?

Weird comment from you. Have you or your family taken over NZ because you live here?
Or are you planning a coup shortly?

This is the sort of rubbish that starts wars.
Some chinese have moved here and now work in various areas. Just like the rest of us.
Perhaps you might speak to a few Maori about all those English that took over NZ.

Or a few Moriori about the Maori that took over.

Etc etc.

Watch out for me!

No, of course not. I made that comment to fit into my explanation to Digby. It is the fact that Chinese, as you say, work in various areas. I understand where he's coming from and doubt he is racist.

It's the same logic in where I would hate to see China being overrun by white/black/purple guys.

Although how you tell someone is Chinese by looking at them I don't know, he could be Taiwanese, Thai, Cambodian, Japanese, etc etc.
I know white people have trouble differentiating most Asians of their true blood origins. All my white/black friends couldn't, for the sake of their lives figure what nationality an Asian is from. However I usually could tell from their skin, their face, their language, their tone of voice.....it's actually pretty straightforward. Though I have to admit the older they are the harder it is to distinguish their ethnicity unless you hear what they speak.

738603 2009-01-14 23:53:00 I'll go on record here as saying that I support immigration and I support our being part of the UN refugee programme.

I think that New Zealand can only be enriched by the arrival of a myriad of cultures and ethnicities.

738604 2009-01-15 02:22:00 Hi Guys

. . . A Kiwi might have been more compassionate or at least a little more caring . . .

When I first arrived in Auckland 20+ years ago, I was driving along Ellerslie\Panmure highway one day and it was raining very heavily; as a law abiding person, I stopped at a traffic light junction (red light, of course) . shortly after, a young *&x% kiwi hit me from the back, and he then he sped off even when the traffic light was still RED . I was stunned and could not take down his registration number . That's my first experience with a 'caing & compassionate' KIWI! And, for the first few years, I was conned, cheated, abused countless times by the so-called &*%# Kiwis! I learned my lessons the hard way - in dealing with Kiwis!

Maybe, I was a little unfortunate in this case and hope that was just an isolated case!:D:D

738606 2009-01-15 03:00:00 There are probably more bad Kiwi drivers than Asian drivers here ... sure there would be some bad Asian drivers too but then there are bad drivers from every country Agent_24 (57)
