737247 2009-01-26 01:35:00 Hey thanks for the reply.
I am pretty sure that I wont be overclocking my pc. So should I choose a cheaper mobo?
And another thing, how would the increase in cache of the CPU affect the performance of the pc? more cache = more speed?

737248 2009-01-26 01:41:00 Well originally I chose the Q6600 for $372 and then i decided to take it up a notch to Q9400 for $448, so thats like a $72 increase and if I choose the Q9450 for $549 thats lik $177 increase. Now is it worth it??
In the first place, Im not even sure if its worth choosing the Q9400 over the Q6600 since it has 2mb less cache but an increase of 0.26GHZ in the CPU

737249 2009-01-26 01:45:00 And if I choose the Q9450 for $549, then Im pretty sure someone else will suggest me to get the Q9550 for $561 ~ $12 increase
LOL

737250 2009-01-26 02:24:00 Not really, as its only a clock speed difference, you could easily just overclock it, not worth it. Blam (54)
737251 2009-01-26 22:24:00 Hmm no more suggestions from anyone else??
Hehe is this a dead forum?:drool

737252 2009-01-27 02:50:00 Just my 2c, I don't overclock either.
Get a good brand mobo and get it cheap, just so it supports your CPU and has hte features you want. I mean I can take 1200 DDR2, I bought DDR2 800 instead cos I didn't thin it mattered much. Good chipset, the version I wouldn't mind if it was the last.

A mistake of myself is that I got a mobo that hasa eSATA bracket but I found out that eSATA can be done to any mobo with SATA - it just connects to your internal SATA port.

Don't know but someone said you got a flash mobo ... but for mass computing I just get it cheap but that is just me. :2cents:

2nd HDD or external is cool for emergencies. Get internal SATA and a cheap enclosure.

737253 2009-01-27 05:13:00 I changed my specs.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400, 3.00GHz

MOBO: Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3P Intel P45 ATX

HARD DRIVE: Seagate 640GB 7200rpm 32MB SATAII hard drive

MEMORY: Corsair TWIN2X4096-6400C5DHX 2 X 2GB DDR2-800 XMS2 The XMS2 DHX

GPU: ATI Radeon HD4870 512MB DDR3 PCI-EXPRESS DUAL DVI PCI-E OEM

DISPLAY: BENQ T2200HD 21.5" Full HD LCD monitor 1920x1080

Case: Antec Nine Hundred Tower Gaming

PSU: Seasonic M12 700W PSU

What do you think??

737254 2009-01-27 09:20:00 500GB are the best bang for buck I think right now ...
If not overclocking not sure on copper cover RAMs ... but that's just me. So $75 than $300.

Is that a cheaper motherboard - again just me.
I've read form Toms Hardware it appears that Nvdia are the better buys - they had a best buy sorta review.

I agree with the CPU, I use Adobe software and stuff so I chose Quad Core over Ghz. For most pple I think, get Dual Core and a higher Ghz.

If you do want a fast system, I would just get 10,000 RPM SATA HDDs. With that regard keep your fancy mobo, RAM and high Ghz CPU and video card. Or maybe 2x HDD to set up stripe RAID.

737255 2009-01-27 10:13:00 I would check the hdd if its one of these seagate hdd's with a screwed firmware

You'll have probs with the system detecting the hdd

It may go first time, but if you dont update the firmware (if its affected).

It wont turn on every time
