738971 2009-01-15 19:33:00 BDT certainly will be missed. :o

They didn't always have the best pricing, but their service was excellent.

738972 2009-01-15 19:56:00 Excellent Service is right - Just rang them, and placed an order for several items - you give them an hour to do all the paperwork, pick the items from the racks - and since they are about 10 minutes away from where I am, I'll go collect.

MANY a time I have needed last minute items - sometimes on Fridays -- rang late in the afternoon ordered it - driven over to them- and even though the sign says no pickups after 4pm - got what I need.

738973 2009-01-15 20:15:00 Yep, I can imagine they'd be like that, good on em.

Real shame. Still, this is the way the economy is going... fingers crossed everyone else manages to keep going, it sounds bad saying it like this - but BDT's closure will help other companies, it would be the same for BDT if someone else had closed.

25 years is a bloody long time to be in business and then have to close because of financial reasons, really shows whats going on with the economy and low NZD.

738974 2009-01-15 20:27:00 Well no one is immune from the current recession it seems.

A kitchen company here in Whangarei, who have been in business for 53 years , have just closed the doors. They had showrooms in Kerikeri, Whg & Auckland with the manufacturing plant here in Whg.

738975 2009-01-15 20:57:00 Altech does Corsair PSUs too, although their prices are higher than BDT was.
I've only just started using them, seems OK although the website ordering system looks like its Aussie. OK if you ignore it.

How about Silverstone though guys?
Their site shows Conextech but they are TMC/Playtech.

Not keen on that idea............

And Morningstar has low stock levels lately..............Hmmmmmm.

738977 2009-01-15 23:41:00 Well considering BDT is one of the bigger importers of many items, including MS & Corsair products - with them going the others will soon be putting up prices, and where do you think shops get their stock - many wont import them from overseas. wainuitech (129)
738978 2009-01-16 00:05:00 Normal practice to put up your prices if you can find a good excuse!!!:D

Oil company's do it all the time!!!:D:lol:

738979 2009-01-16 00:21:00 Ok Take here in NZ- if the oil companies put up prices - who can you go to - no one as they all go up.

With PC parts, unless you order in bulk you wont get much in the way of discounts - some of these places I know for a fact sell at cost price just to clear stock. If the importers don't sell to retailers, they shut down, or simply stop importing certain no profit items.

Once I looked at importing cases - the suppliers in the USA told me I could, but I would need to import at least 200 cases each month - it would have saved me around $6 per case from the supplier in Auckland - what the hell would I do with 200 cases a month ??

Some shops do charge quite high - others don't. Take Ascent for example, most of the people here that run a business can match their prices if they want to or in some cases beat them.

Heres A CHALLENGE find a LEGAL place in NZ that can match this - bet you cant. -This morning I just picked up an order in from BDT for PSU's, Memory etc and This exact same thing from ascent (www.ascent.co.nz) - it cost me $21.37 each

738980 2009-01-16 00:25:00 Plus I'll just use www.pricespy.co.nz
Find what I want compare the prices of the good shops, give them a ring and buy it.

Otherwise there is Trademe.

And you can use Ebay and TigerDirect as well to import whatever you want, and they will post world wide to you!!!:clap
