2009-01-15 14:58:00 | You need the duration of each call. You would then wright up a wee script to loop through them. I cannot see any other way. Example1: (a) Number of Local Calls 500 (b) Local Calls total time (Mins) 291 (c) Cost $25.05 Impossible to tell, if they must charge for the first minute regardless of time, then (b) would have to be at least = to (a)?? or Example1= 0.03 $25.05 / (500+291) "In Example1, they made 499 calls that were <1 minute, and 1 call that was exactly 2 minutes long" (499+2)*0.03=$15.03 Example2= 0.12 $153.60 / (500+768)

2009-01-15 19:46:00 | The *correct* answer for 1 is 5c, and for 2 is 20c ... :-/ The problem is the calls are not *exactly* 1-min long ...

2009-01-15 20:26:00 | yea how much of the charge rates are known for sure? You've said "So a 60 second Nation call is 20c" "A 90 second local call is 30c" yet "and 1 call that was exactly 2 minutes long (Hence that call cost them 10c rather than 5c)." - I'm somewhat confused

2009-01-15 20:37:00 | Im saying hypothetically (Looking at example 2) that a 90 second call is 30c Looking at Example 1, you have 499 calls that were less than 1 min each, times potentially varying quite a bit, and a single call that was exactly 2 minutes long (Because it cost 10c, which is where the .05 comes into it). Is example 1 simply impossible to know without further information of each individual call?

2009-01-15 20:57:00 | Is example 1 simply impossible to know without further information of each individual call? Yes. Further information needed on the first minute anyway. You could work out upper and lower bounds if that helps at all.

2009-01-16 01:56:00 | I'm lousy at maths. Yet... of all the maths papers I did at uni I got either 99% or 100% for them all. Seniority rules I say!
