Why pay through the nose to ruin your health. As far as cell phone usage while driving - its a no brainer also - In Austalia it is a way to get yourself a $250 on the spot fine . Should be the same in NZ. |

They automatically think they have done something wrong and and you should see the panicked expressions on their face. Wouldn't matter if you fined the numbnuts 250 big ones here they just dont pay fines. It goes on their traffic ticket tab its just a big joke. |

I just touched my brakes so my break lights came on and she panicked and dropped the phone . My wifes car was taken out by a truckie on a cellphone, and it was just parked on the side of the road . The car was shunted 7 meters up the road . The trukie didn't even stop . Luckily there were two witnesses . A friend of mine was involved in a head on . (part of the secondary collision - when the vehicle spun round and slammed into him as he was following the first vehicle) . Cops suspect that the guy that drifted across the road was trying to make a call (or texting) with his cellphone . Killed himself and one of the people in the car in front of my friend . I'm seriously against cellphone use while driving . |

My last car in the UK had all the stereo controls on the steering wheel as well so didn't need to take my hands off to change channels turn the volume up etc real bonus. It's about time people were made to actually pay their fines instead of being allowed to just keep racking them up only to get them wiped. I think that if you fines reach a limit of say $1000 or more your car should be instantly crushed, and drink drivers should have their drinking hand whacked with a cricket bat. Have lost 2 friends to them over the years 1 in a car hit by a drunk and 1 on a motorbike hit by a drunk, that's why I never drink if i'm driving SWMBO and self take turns when we go out. |

Recently while in Brisbane, our cab driver almost sideswiped another vehicle while his attention was on fiddling with his Tom Tom. Ban them I say. rny. |

| 738500 | 2009-01-17 21:15:00 | Don't ban GPS's, just make it illegal to use them while driving, or regulate them so that "safe mode" is the default setting. IIRC some GPS's have voice control. | pcuser42 (130) | ||
| 738501 | 2009-01-17 22:08:00 | Yeah ban tom toms they are dutch, navman ok got nz connection That is crazy reasoning. Should we also ban all Cars and Electrical Goods etc not made or connected with New Zealand? |
