If the tow was only required because Mr Chan didn't have any keys left for other options that's his hard luck. | PaulD (232) | ||

But you will still receive ACC, even though you were being naughty.:horrified Can't understand why the car rental company did not have a spare set of keys. Surely it would have been cheaper to drive it back? Two days wages and petrol. What sort of rental company does not have a spare set of keys for their cars? I feel certain that quite a few customers have lost or failed to return their keys. What did they do then? No keys so they can't rent out the car again? Can't imagine a car rental firm that silly.:illogical |

Can't understand why the car rental company did not have a spare set of keys. Surely it would have been cheaper to drive it back? Two days wages and petrol. Yup, seems kinda dumb to me .... |

| 738352 | 2009-01-14 02:38:00 | How does a customer return the car without the keys? You're probably too young to remember the ad where some guy gets on the plane with the keys in his pocket It ended with the Hostie telling someone on the phone "No trouble, I gave them to the pilot and he threw them out the window." |

| 738353 | 2009-01-14 04:52:00 | It's hard to know what to think . My first reaction was to wonder if there is social conscience in this situation . This family would be in a state of deep shock . Who would even be able to think of those details at such a time? It would be bad enough happening in your own country, without it happening elsewhere . Also, the fact that the company appear to be be unprepared for missing keys, regardless of how that situation occurred, doesn't help . If that is true then it doesn't give much faith in their business practices . People are grieving with every death that occurs to their nearest and dearest, but funeral costs still have to be paid . I have even heard of someone who died in a rest home and the family had a very limited time to remove their belongings . Take the case of the unpaid power account . Bills still need to be paid, but common sense cannot be overlooked . Did the family go to the media over this? How did the information become public? |

| 738355 | 2009-01-14 05:13:00 | Well, I think the media has decided that the rental car company is out of order and that is their agenda. I didnt see any support for him, only the parents of yet another stupid crew of tourist costing kiwi taxpayers money for rescues likely to cost 5-6 figures... Whatever the reason for the car not being driving back, the agreement of the contract should be adhered too. Looks like kiwi love and the soft touch has once again come to the service of others, though I feel for the rental car owner and the bad PR the fcuken media has given him! |

There should be insurance to cover this both for the renter and the people who rented and died. |
