I disagree - I have only had one deal go bad on me in the last 6 years (that was a sale where the buyer was an idiot - no other word for it).

If you check out a seller's history - feedback and exactly what he has sold over time - you can get a pretty good feel for the trustworthiness (or not) of that trader.

738286 2009-01-13 22:32:00 I got a phone call from Inland Revenue about 18 months ago wanting details of a bloke I got a laptop from off Trademe. They had got some info from Trademe and I checked the bloke's account straight after the phone call and his account had been closed.

That is the only bad experience I have had with any TM transaction and that was a few months after it took place. I have close to 200 100% positive feedbacks on my account so I am happy enough.

738288 2009-01-14 00:08:00 Im with Pctek, my father sells semi-frequently on there but he refuses to use the feedback system when people dont go through with a sale. He'd rather give them a smiley face and a semi-decent comment than to give them a red face.

THAT is what is is there for!!!
They give you a red face back unjustly, then email TradeMe support and they'll just remove it.

Its when you fail to use the system that it becomes useless ... Seriously get so frustrated by people who refuse to simply give a bad trader a bad rating.
OR people who do "average" trades with others and then give Super AAAA+++++ ratings. R-Tards!
A "regular" or "good" trade is when they contact you within 24 hours with payment info, payment is made within the next 24 hours, goods shipped within the next 24 hours, and the goods arrive within a couple of days and are as-described.
People just arent "harsh" enough ..

A "Great!" trade is when somebody goes over and above the course of a regular trade just to make sure things go smoothly, emailing you to let you know the goods are on their way, with the tracking details, the link to the site where you can check your transaction, information about how to care for your new goods, or installation instructions, or what not to do with them .. stuff like that, which is over and above a "good" trade, that deserves a raving review.

Its like all the idiots who write sentences:
lol hi lol

Nothings funny! Stop saying lol! Same goes for people who write:
AAAAAAA++++++++!!!!!!
It wasnt *that* good a trade, just because you've learned a new acronym or "internet slang" doesnt mean you should abuse it 24/7.

738289 2009-01-14 00:13:00 Agree totally. I've had a few interesting trades, one of which resulted in a red face, the seller was a total jerk, the picture he had on the auction wasn't the same as what he was selling, he wanted twice what the item was worth for postage, and he was very hard to deal with and abusive.

I didn't go through with the trade, gave him a red face, explaining what had happened, and he made up a whole lot of BS about me...emailed him and asked him nicely to please change it, as he was a cock. He didn't, as you'd expect so TM removed it - no problems.

738290 2009-01-14 00:35:00 Have been ripped off once on TM and I have been using it pretty much since it started.
Bought something from a seller who, at the time, had 100% positive feedback with about 40-50 different users.
Paid the money, about $200 from memory for a minidisc player (this was a few years ago).
Never heard anything from the seller and then it started to turn ugly as they suddenly started getting bad feedback from 2-3 other buyers who were also waiting for items they had paid for.
The police got involved in the end but apparently the guy left NZ so there was nothing they could do.
