737622 2009-01-12 09:49:00 In the main, I liked their ads.

Even if he got the pig from that other website. ;)

Because of the deep recession we are heading into, they obviusly didn't want to carry the losses through, with very little hope of growing it. If they followed Amazons model more, they could have done well, as even Amazon made losses to begin with. It's going to majorly affect TV advertising revenues, as those Ferrit ads were on TV a lot.

Me too. The tv advertising turned me off completely - that silly guy with the out of date clothes, etc. Glad we won't have to endure those adverts anymore. Just one more example of Telecom's stupidity.

737626 2009-01-12 21:26:00 The Ferrit guy made being geeky cool .

Ok, no-one liked him here but maybe that was the plan (and I'm the odd one out) .

I find it amusing that he annoyed everyone so much :D

Didn't they move to those Jetson cartoon type adverts, which I quite liked . ?

737628 2009-01-13 01:09:00 Never used it. Surfed it a few times but everything was shockingly expensive. Well compared to places found using pricespy. m3dic (14437)
737629 2009-01-13 01:13:00 I was on holiday in the South Island some time ago when one of the others caught a ferrit and killed it. Maybe it was a sign of things to come? :D pcuser42 (130)
737630 2009-01-13 03:22:00 Honestly what they should have done is setup a true competitor to trademe. If they did all that advertsing for a trademe type of website, and undercut trademes fees and had better features, they could have done a lot better than this 'experimental' concept, which was never going to work.

If I was a telecom shareholder, I would be asking some major questions of the telecom management.

737631 2009-01-13 19:04:00 Not surprised by its demise really. I tried using their site on about three seperate occasions and found their search engine really weak on pulling up results even remotely close to what I was after. Also, I never managed to figure out the 'flow' of their site. If you cant understand how a site works the first time intuitively, then chances of one going back are pretty slim IMHO. Johnnz (7246)
