843820 2009-12-28 05:13:00 I dont know they just had numbers but the internet and email is working what does the video card do? prefect (6291)
843821 2009-12-28 05:15:00 Well the videocard drivers will let you configure whatever if you want to. If you cant get to the windowsupdate site, then it cant be online. install Java and adobe flash Speedy Gonzales (78)
843822 2009-12-28 05:20:00 Why does everything work if the video card device manager has yellow tag?
Thanks
prefect (6291)
843823 2009-12-28 05:21:00 It'll still work (theyre default drivers),but it'll be better if you install the right drivers for whatever the videocard is Speedy Gonzales (78)
843824 2009-12-28 06:10:00 Should I take the sides off the computer and look for video card to get numbers?
What do I look for
Thanks
prefect (6291)
843825 2009-12-28 06:14:00 You look for a brand and model. You may have to turn the system off, it maybe under the card. You'll have to remove the card if its not onboard Speedy Gonzales (78)

Download and run Belarc. That should tell you the graphic card's details under the "Display" section.

843827 2009-12-28 08:38:00 Got 2 other problems on boot comes to black page gives 2 choices both say start xp press enter for top one and it continues has countdown and will start on that after 30 secs
Is it something I did on the reinstall? Sounds a bit like the system is picking up two OS's - did you do a complete format of the drive and then install XP ?

To fix that click start / run, type in msconfig click on BOOT.INI tab, there will be a button that says "check all boot paths" click that - IF one is not actually there it will ( from memory) offer to remove it - once removed you wont have the two options.

Cant find anything relating to video card on report other than display not detected.

Thanks for that wainui, on the general tab the start up is now selective from normal if I change it back to normal the original problem comes back.
I dont mind doing another reinstall if that will correct the problem properly must have done something wrong on the partition step I think.
:thanks
