843622 2009-12-27 21:20:00 You can go to the MS site, and download SP1 and SP2. However theyre not small. SP1 for x64 is 743mb, and SP1 for x86 is 557mb

SP1 for x86 (www.microsoft.com)

SP1 for x64 (www.microsoft.com)

SP2 for x86 (www.microsoft.com)

I would install one of the free PDF readers

Have uninstalled Adobe reader.

I have both of those SP. will install them and see what happens.

Question. Does SP1 have all the original updates included in it?
Colpol (444)
843623 2009-12-27 21:24:00 Well SP1 has the updates (from when Vista came out, till SP1 came out). Install that first, then reboot, then let it update. Then install SP2. All of the updates after SP2 are on the MS site. There are a LOT of them. You would have to check for updates, then click on the links to the updates, to download them. if you want them Speedy Gonzales (78)
843624 2009-12-27 21:34:00 OK Speedy thank you for your patients.

For a reloaded system it is very very very slow responding.

Maybe need to redo it. The restore is very quick and if SP 1 has everything on it I can do it relativly quickly.
I guess procedure would be
Reinstall.
Install SP1
Install SP2
Then run Auto update

843625 2009-12-27 21:38:00 If the LAN drivers have been installed. Right mouse on the LAN icon in the taskbar. Go into the LAN properties. Untick IPv6. Then go to start/run type services.msc. Go to windows search / disable it. It can slow a system down. Right mouse on C:/properties. Untick the indexing option. This can take a while, let it finish. How much ram is in it? What CPU is in it?

Yup, thats what I usually do, clean install, SP1, SP2, the rest of the updates

843629 2009-12-27 22:10:00 Question.
When reinstalling system then SP1 And SP2 is it done with BB unpluged?

843630 2009-12-27 22:15:00 Since its dual core, go to start/run type msconfig. Go to the boot tab / advanced tab, change number of processors to 2. Then reboot. It should make booting into vista faster. No you have to be online to install SP2, (since it installs 2 files from online), or it wont update to SP2. Speedy Gonzales (78)

OK running much faster since turned off of Search and index.
Tried the boot suggestion. Changed to 2 processors and it automaticily went to selective startup and did not load "startup"
Reset to norma startup and it was back to 1 processor
