843810 2009-12-28 03:01:00 Got 2005 dell intel desktop its run out of space on C drive so I did a reinstall of xp.
Its mostly gone sweet but in the device manger under other devices these have yellow next to them
ethernet controller
pci device
sm bus controller
video controller
video controller (vga compat)

The dell comes with cd with devices but when I navigate down to them on the device wizard it cant find them.
I tried booting from this cd on start and it lists the devices

Can anyone help I suppose I need the Ethernet up and running at least so I can get it online.
If I cant do by myself its going to cost biccies to get it sorted.

843811 2009-12-28 03:03:00 If the CD has install / setup files on it run them. Or go to the dell site, look for the model get the drivers, then install them Speedy Gonzales (78)
843812 2009-12-28 03:06:00 go to Dells web site and download them beama (111)
843813 2009-12-28 03:20:00 The driver CD should auto run when you put it in the drive, you usually select the model number of your PC from a drop down list, that then brings up all the drivers for that model, normally you click on install / Run / and it loads the drivers to a folder in the C: drive and installs them. wainuitech (129)

843816 2009-12-28 03:41:00 No you install/run exe files, not add them through device manager. The only files that device manager will load are .inf files Speedy Gonzales (78)
843817 2009-12-28 04:06:00 Have a look on the system Model sticker on the PC, does it give any of the numbers you mention - manuals are not always 100% correct. wainuitech (129)
843818 2009-12-28 04:55:00 Thanks Wainui no sticker with model number.
Downloaded drivers from dell but 2 video card ones are yellow is that normal because everything seems to work.
Got 2 other problems on boot comes to black page gives 2 choices both say start xp press enter for top one and it continues has countdown and will start on that after 30 secs
Is it something I did on the reinstall?

Other prob went to help windows update and it comes up with an red X cant display the page the web page you are trying to view cannot be displayed bla bla what do I do there please?
