Farmers sold a second-hand, repaired television set as new, and it was not an isolated incident, the Christchurch District Court has been told.

However this doesn't change the fact it sucks that they'd do that, very bad business practise.

740757 2009-01-21 02:27:00 We had a similar thing happen last year at Farmers lower Hutt.

The better half, and I (being dragged along ;) ) went in to buy a new Sewing machine - she saw what she wanted, grabbed one off of the display pile they had on the shop floor - paid for it - took it home and half the bits were missing and not packed correctly - promptly jumped in the car, took it back.

I insisted the replacement was open in front of us to check for missing parts - all OK, and this time correctly packaged

I would have wanted a discount, for having to go over the Wainui hill twice.

740759 2009-01-21 03:37:00 I wouldn't have a problem buying a repaired set - provided they labeled it as so and it came with the standard warranty and everything, and the repair could be guaranteed as quality work.

If not, then at least put a discount on it. (like Dick Smith do)

But pretending it's new and then denying it .. well that's just stupid
