(when opened) would get in the way of the plug going into a port unless the port is on the edge of the computer. Which is quite rare for me!

One solution thought of would be if when it unlocked both sides of the U shaped bit would come off... maybe...

Even more inconvenient with the whole U coming off...
What about the weight a USB flash drive + the weight of a lock?
