844796 2010-01-02 02:57:00 So, yesterday, I installed one my favourite game of all time, Diablo 1, again . After installing I noticed a rather large problem . This game was made in 1997 and I don't think they expected people to be playing it in 2010 .

Anyway, I'm guessing there weren't any wide-screen monitors back then .

What happens is the game is like, squished, and being an old game there is no options to change the resolution or aspect ratios . I can't see the bottom and top of the game .

My monitor is . . ViewSonic VX1940w Monitor, 19" LCD, 1680x1050, DVI, Black

Thanks

Right click the shortcut to the game. Properties, Compatibility and change things from there like the window size.

844798 2010-01-02 04:05:00 Oh sorry, XP. The only option there for screen size is Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution, which unfortunately doesn't fix it. Mister (15201)

Run it through DOSbox or play Diablo 2.

Does Diablo run in Dos?

Why not get a copy of windows 95 and run it in virtual PC that way you can set the screen in the guest system to whatever you want without faffing around with your real machines settings?

844801 2010-01-02 06:36:00 Did you try compatibility mode Win98 or 95? Sweep (90)
844802 2010-01-02 19:19:00 Some monitors have a setting to display the input at its actual ratio (4:3 in this case), rather than stretch it to fill the screen. My monitor has this setting. pcuser42 (130)
844803 2010-01-04 19:51:00 If you have an nVidia card you can change the way smaller resolutions are displayed, so you can have it stretched (4:3 or widescreen) or in a small box in the centre. autechre (266)
