| 845053 | 2010-01-04 01:56:00 | because my shitty little intel integrated express card has 1695 MB total available graphics memory... so removing that and putting a 1gb or a 512 mb card wouldnt downgrade performance would it? I highly doubt it. As far as I am aware the memory on a graphics card is used to load the outputted frames onto (I may be wrong though) but integrated graphics usually only have rubbish processors that are reliant on the computers main RAM so you are only going to notice improvement by putting a sole graphics card in. |

| 845054 | 2010-01-04 02:33:00 | i still dont know about this^ though. and as for outputs i only need a vga output for my computer. anything else is just extra i think my two best bets would end up being the nvidia geforce 9800 (www.bestbuy.com hics+Card/8968094.p;jsessionid=11F710F92CDA59CE7C27E19DE79FF F45.bbolsp-app05-25?skuId=8968094&id=1218006355798) and the asus ati radeon hd 5750 (www.frys.com). and im leaning towards the nvidia because it'll do the job for me and its cheaper. what do you guys think? The 5750 is a lot faster, the 9800 is what I would call a 1600x900 card (if you run higher, many of the latests games will be to low FPS generally speaking). You will also be force to upgrade that 9800 a lot sooner so is it really cheaper! Also dont make the common mistake of thinking video ram is directly related to performance. A 1gig card maybe be able to run higher resolutions BUT if its GPU is to slow then youll be doing like 5FPS which is worthless . 512Mb is enough for mainstream cards, its the GPU speed you need to worry about. |

PNY is a common brand, so its safe, more known here than asus i think. the the reason im avoiding the 5750 is because of its price and problems that could arise with overheating. ** best buy is also one of the leading electronic stores here, so that why im using their site. |

Save maybe another $70 and buy a "real" card like a ATI 4890, like twice the speed you can get them there for under 200 bucks. I went from a OC 8800GT(about the same speed as 9800) to a GTX275 (about the same speed as a HD4890) and I can say you are mad !! lol. |
