740452 2009-01-21 03:20:00 Is subverting these country-specific schemes legal by using a proxy legal?

I would imagine that there would be some terms and conditions saying that this was not, as subdividing the world into areas that pay different amounts is part of their business model.

Hey, you asked for a legal way -- I'm just pointing this out.

740453 2009-01-21 03:30:00 By the way, when I browse to computerworld.co.nz I get this forum. Is there a DNS change going on or something? holloway (1694)

Probably not.

I'd say go Bittorrent - if they don't like it then they should set up an international site for purchasing

If this is still occuring, then it is a problem with your PC setup (probably not sending the 'host' header in the HTTP request). Because the site shares an IP with PressF1, and PressF1 is the default site on that IP, if you try to access computerworld.co.nz without sending the header the server doesn't know which site you are asking for, and so gives you the default one.

As far as I'm aware, the DNS records have not changed (although I'm not certain - Jan?).

740456 2009-01-21 04:19:00 I've downloaded a couple of shows from iTunes USA. You can get gift vouchers from here (http://mikesay98.blogspot.com/) (I've personally used that site and received the codes as promised). Nermal (7077)

I've used bittorent a few times, but with that new law thats coming out, I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Also the file sizes are quite large, and can waste a large amount of our weekly data allowance (1 GB), whereas flash videos fit perfectly :)

Thanks Nermal, I might try that.

How big (file size) are the TV shows you've downloaded?

I would have thought that the object of the excersize was to watch TV programs on a TV set not flash videos on a PC..

740460 2009-01-21 07:47:00 If you sign up at www.uknova.com (there is a limited membership so it may take you several attempts over several days) you can get access to TV programs that have been broadcast in the UK.

A very good selection and good quality files.
