739577 2009-01-17 18:03:00 I bought it, then I realised I MIGHT be able to get it through work through Dove Electronics distributor who do Sony Vaio

Though I'm not sure what price it would be from Dove as I don't know what margin difference is . . .
Perhaps someone familiar with Dove ( . co . nz) can tell me what the price difference would be buying through them . . .

So you want to return it because you can get it cheaper somewhere else?

Tell them that and see how far you get .

Maybe you should have done you research before you bought it, not after!

Quite agree with you porkster!!

I did consumer work with the CAB for nearly 10 years and came to the conclusion that the customer is not always right . Found that there was just as many bad customers as there were bad retailers .

Tough titty fatjoez . Hope Sony see you for what you are .

739579 2009-01-17 21:45:00 You know what champ, it's funny you may think you know something about retail.

But the fact is, a lot of the big players actually in electronics retail actually offer hassle free refund policies regardless of the reason as a benefit of buying from them
Then there's stores like ones you'd undoubtedly run with the "haha we got you now! don't have to refund ya" style of business who think they're making more money than those who do offer refunds

You forgot Dick Smith, Jaycar etc . . .

Who are newegg?

Don't have to give you a refund though . Have to give you a replacement, repair, or credit if the goods are faulty . They sometimes offer credit notes or exchange for goods returned .

However, if you get their back up they can still tell you to go away . That is of course, if they think you are being an ****hole .

Ken

PS Was in retail for around 25 years . Not electronics though .

739583 2009-01-18 00:02:00 Yeah of course I too would be less keen to help a customer out if they were being wack

All the same I think it's reasonable to change your mind within a few days and return something without too much hassle

btw: www.newegg.com

Perhaps a pair of glasses would do you justice pctek
I never mentioned "new zealand" in my comment

I guess using a company with annual revenues of 1.9 billion just isn't enough for you huh
