845006 2010-01-03 01:08:00 I have recently purchased an eMachine EL1301. AMD Athlon dual core 1.6G,
RAM 1G, Video card NVIDIA GeForce6150SE. It came without a manual or CD or any other technical document.
(1) Can anyone give me a source from which the user manual can be downloaded? [Google is not much help]
(2) It is set to give an aspect ratio of 16:9 display on the monitor. Is there any way of changing this to 4:3 to suit my older style monitor?
Thanks in advance

845007 2010-01-03 01:18:00 I don't know why google was no help to you.

Did not take me long to find this:-

www.emachines.com

Look under document.

845008 2010-01-03 07:29:00 Thanks sweep, I must be having a bad day!! The manual is on the computer!!
Still hoping someone can come up with an answer to question 2. I cannot find anything on various web sites. Perhaps the only answer is to buy a new monitor!

845009 2010-01-03 07:30:00 Look in the video drivers settings. Right mouse on the desktop / properties Speedy Gonzales (78)
845010 2010-01-03 08:03:00 With regards to the second question, it is possible to scale the display. I'm not sure if it works on the older CRT displays, but with LCD it is possible.

Assuming you have the latest NVidia graphics card drivers, there is an option to disable scaling. This will give you a 4:3 scaling with black bars on the edges to fill up the empty space. e.g it does not stretch the desktop.

I'm not sure if this exactly what you're after.

845011 2010-01-04 01:22:00 Thanks for replies. I found the driver file, System32/drivers/nv4_mini , but am reluctant to dig into it as I could do more harm than good.
I cannot find anything about "scaling" so I will have to live with a 16:9 display on a 4:3 monitor or but a new monitor.

845012 2010-01-04 01:26:00 No, I meant in the latest driver pack from NVidia, the Nvidia Control Panel has an option for scaling the desktop resolution on a monitor bob_doe_nz (92)
