Any bets on what the final result will be here's at 49% (www.imagef1.net.nz(Large).JPG) - Cant do an actual screen shot - the "infection" attacks any thing thats opened, including paint.

Place ya Bets :D

Edited: the PC has already had Ccleaner, Malwarebytes, Superantispyware, Spyware terminator and Combo fix run through it. :nerd:

741067 2009-01-22 05:23:00 Hang on - you're using NOD32 to do the scan and the version of the virus database used is 3231

My install of NOD32 is current and the database version is up to 3787.

I knew its badly infected as it had a go at one of my USB drives - theres no way in hell I'm putting THAT on my LAN to update Nod32.

It's gonna be reinstalled - I'd be surprised if it boots after this lot - Currently at 86% - pcuserwinvista - you're not that far off.

Edited: I'll post up the result when its finished

741070 2009-01-22 05:38:00 It amazes me that Norton's continues to be sold.

I guess it's like Windows - people get it bundled on a new machine and never question it...

741073 2009-01-22 06:51:00 Okey Dokey - Previously run cleaners / antispyware.

None of these were updated as I wasn't putting this PC on my LAN in its state, but they were fresh downloads this morning - burnt to CD, as the infection got one of my USB Drives - reformat time for it.

Nortons was there in icons only - the infection Win32/Virut.NAk Virus killed Nortons. < it never stood a chance.

Run in the following Order

Ccleaner - cleaned out about 800Mb crap.

Malwarebytes - took out 187 - Spyware Terminator took out another 15

Super Antispyware took out 57 - Combofix found and deleted 6 more

Installed Nod32 - it went NUTS instantly ----- Nod32 not updated took out ??????????? - message came up saying the rest would be deleted on reboot.

Rebooted - lovely Blue Screen :xmouth: and NOTHING else RIP for that OS :(

Thankfully I have a copy of the Drive so no data is lost, just got to get it off and Not infect any thing else now.
