845791 2010-01-05 00:49:00 What's the go with these drives and the firmware now? I heard there was an issue with the TRIM firmware update a while ago, is it all good now? I'm running this drive with the original firmware at the moment with Win7 Pro x64.

I assume the following link would be the right place to download the update...

845792 2010-01-05 01:53:00 Yeah, it's all good. Got my G2 up and running some two weeks ago with the latest 02HD firmware. The crapped one was the 02HA, which was the original firmware for my new G2, but I updated it before installing W7.

I don't have to use the SSD toolbox's cleaning feature, as I believe the TRIM command automatically gets passed down to the SSD when you use W7. I've run CrystalDiskMark when it was fresh, and again after a week and nothing has changed. Just remember to set it on AHCI.

845794 2010-01-05 01:58:00 Hehe yeah...enjoy it. I love my SSD. Though I still firmly believe it's a luxury these days, I love it nonetheless! :D qazwsxokmijn (102)
845795 2010-01-05 02:58:00 Have any of you read the article about the Sandforce SSD drive coming this year?.. SolMiester (139)
845796 2010-01-05 03:04:00 Not really why? qazwsxokmijn (102)
845797 2010-01-05 03:04:00 Not yet, we are about to though? ;) wratterus (105)
845798 2010-01-05 03:28:00 yep ive used that firmware nps.

SSD is expensive, but to keep things in perspective you could easily spend like $600 on a conventional drive 10+ years ago, hell in fact PC's were twice the price. SSD is the most noticeable upgrade I have ever done behind the odd GPU.
