845817 2010-01-04 22:27:00 Cannot get into router from desktop (hard wired). Wi fi from laptop works ok and can use internet no probs. Desktop can launch Mailwasher to check for email and can also update clock from Massey Uni. If I type router address into address bar from desktop I get timeout eventually. No prob from laptop. i.e. it's only the desktop pc giving problems. Any ideas? Thanks.

845818 2010-01-04 22:33:00 Is there a firewall on 2K?? Maybe it doesnt like 2K?? You need XP+ or something to log into it? Sounds like a proxy or something blocking it. Since you can still get email. Can the desktop get on the internet, using a browser? Speedy Gonzales (78)
845819 2010-01-04 22:48:00 Hi Speedy. Yes there is a firewall but it is not launched. It has been working fine for years with IE and FF. I can only check for Email. I didn't say that I could receive it. I have sent a test email from lappy so I know that there is one waiting for delivery but this does not show on mailwasher. No. cannot get to internet using Browser. As I said browser just times out with blank page. Browser does not complete launch. bluenose (14548)
845820 2010-01-04 22:53:00 Whats the firewall? Run trojan remover <- direct link (www.simplysupersoft.com). Since it can update the time, it should be able to update this. Then scan. Or post a hijackthis log somehow Speedy Gonzales (78)
845821 2010-01-04 23:09:00 OK Speedy, I've dl,ed TR. Installed and run update. Launched and up comes error "Cannot find import; DLL may be missing, corrupt, or wrong version file "gdiplus.dll, error 126. bluenose (14548)
845822 2010-01-04 23:14:00 Sorry I didn't answer f/wall question. It's comodo. bluenose (14548)
845823 2010-01-04 23:32:00 Is 2K up to date, with ALL updates??

All it says on the site is:

I get the error message "A required DLL file, GDIPLUS.DLL, was not found" (or "The dynamic link library gdiplus.dll could not be found") when I try to start Trojan Remover (or the FastScan runs).

Earlier versions of Trojan Remover required the use of the Microsoft Windows file GDIPLUS.DLL. Later versions do not. Update your program to the latest version and this should resolve the issue. But it didnt. So, dont know what you can do. If 2K works with teamviewer, I could check it out from here. If it works

845824 2010-01-05 00:29:00 Yes 2K Pro is up to date with all updates as of second Tuesday of last month. I have also run TR again and checked for latest updates and the reply was you have the latest updates. Updated MBAM (18Megs) and run that, no nasties. So I can get to the internet direct but can't talk to router. Will have to run checks to see if something on PC got corrupted when I closed down last night. I am going to borrow live CD from mate. Will get back and let you know the outcome.

Many thanks Speedy. Much appreciated.
