2009-01-25 07:38:00 | For those who make comparisons with deer hunters killing their mates and being sent to jail The difference is the deer is not armed with a gun, nor is the deer allegedly firing at a truck driver There is a huge difference where there is no requirement to fire unless you are sure of your target, and being suddenly placed in a life or death situation Besides if I wanted to get rid of someone and they had no idea of my intentions, I would take them deer hunting And there is no chance of the policeman who mistakenly killed the bystander being sent to jail either. But the policeman who fired the shot is at fault - it is not possible to pass the blame to the offender who caused the callout. The assault rifle (an M4 I believe) was in the hands of a trained police officer - not just any joe bloggs.

2009-01-25 09:08:00 | This in itself is a joke. Is this you trying to be grown up, and pretentious, or just downright naive? People have sex, they have kids. Seems this guy had his head screwed on and was trying to do his bit and actually provide for his family. He wasn't sitting on his ass waiting for Thursday to roll round. And yet here is you, in your knowledgeable way bringing him down. Take your own advice Lets look at human greed more closely shall we. Do you really need all those lovely specs in your signature?? Point proven, case shut And yeah, the police got it wrong ..... again Am I by any chance, as a taxpayer, or my parents, supporting you and however many number of kids you have? I applaud Halatau for being a responsible father by having an appropriate job. A family owned one at that. By having a job this separates him from the welfare bludgers we all hate. What I don't applaud is his decision to become a father (soon to be to three kids) at such a young age. I am not bringing him down. I'm just pointing out he may be giving himself too much problem for himself by being a father so young. Ever heard of the term 'too much, too young'? Well, if having three kids at 17 (probably 18 by the time the twins are born) is not 'too much too young' then I don't know what is. And no, I don't need the specs I have in my sig. But guess what? I'm human. Guilty as charged. There was no point proven in your case, I'm afraid. the policeman who fired the shot is at fault Undoubtedly. But of course, it is manslaughter and not in any way murder. I do feel sorry for the judge in this instance that he will have to hand out an appropriate punishment under the pressure of the law and the public. Does the accused get heavier punishment due to the chain of his actions?

2009-01-25 09:32:00 | Am I by any chance, as a taxpayer, or my parents, supporting you and however many number of kids you have? Paying tax doesn't mean you're supporting anybody. It just means you're paying tax - that's all. Social welfare benefits are entitlements. If a person meets the criteria then they are entitled. They don't have to ask you if it's ok. I applaud Halatau for being a responsible father by having an appropriate job. A family owned one at that. By having a job this separates him from the welfare bludgers we all hate. We? Who, prey tell, is "we"? I don't hate anybody on welfare. I've been there myself and now I don't need it anymore. What I don't applaud is his decision to become a father (soon to be to three kids) at such a young age. I am not bringing him down. I'm just pointing out he may be giving himself too much problem for himself by being a father so young. Gee - maybe he should have come to you for your wisdom before he made those darned decisions? The poor guy is dead because of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. He won't get to see his kids again. He won't get to make any more of those gee golly darned poor decisions. No more problems. No more kids. Nothing. He won't be costing you very much more of your vanishingly small contribution to the consolidated fund. Nope. Does the accused get heavier punishment due to the chain of his actions? There will be a Police Complaints Authority investigation as a matter of course. If the police officer who killed the bystander gets charged with manslaughter I will be very surprised.

Gee, thanks for deliberately leaving out the 'bludger' after 'welfare' . After all, it does make me look like the bad guy - something you've been trying to do all this time . ;) Clever . The poor guy is dead because of being in the wrong place at the wrong time . He won't get to see his kids again . He won't get to make any more of those gee golly darned poor decisions . No more problems . No more kids . Nothing . Perhaps I came up with this issue much too soon . I apologise for that . I would for now leave it at this and leave the rest to grief over the loss of a responsible father . He won't be costing you very much more of your vanishingly small contribution to the consolidated fund . Nope . Vanishingly small contribution? I don't know who in hell you think you are to come to that conclusion . Through, granted you are right in saying 'small contribution' (scratch the 'vanishingly' part), your vague aggressive conclusions will only increase people's dislike towards you . And this conclusion is substantiated by private PMs . Of course I don't have proof of this, but what proof did you have to say I only do a 'small contribution'? There will be a Police Complaints Authority investigation as a matter of course . If the police officer who killed the bystander gets charged with manslaughter I will be very surprised . No, I was talking about the 50 year old accused who started the whole mess . Will he get more punishment for the accidental death of Halatau? |

2009-01-25 10:01:00 | I'm just pointing out he may be giving himself too much problem for himself by being a father so young. He's got a pretty big problem on his hands at the moment...being dead and all that... Tho I do agree with you, 3 kids at 17/18 is too young imo but if he could've (not can) supported them, given them a good upbringing etc then I don't see the problem.

2009-01-25 11:15:00 | Vanishingly small contribution? I don't know who in hell you think you are to come to that conclusion. Through, granted you are right in saying 'small contribution' (scratch the 'vanishingly' part), Unless you're a multinational, your contributions compared to the overall tax take of the country are very, very small indeed. Certainly they don't, by themselves, put you in any great moral position to make judgements about people's choices in life. your vague aggressive conclusions will only increase people's dislike towards you. And this conclusion is substantiated by private PMs. You think I really care what people here think of me? Do you think I really care what you think of me? Let me leave you in no doubt - I don't care. Frankly, I find it laughable that you think your private message buddys' opinions of me "substantiates" anything. This forum swings pretty heavily to the right. I take some pleasure in posting the occasional bleeding heart liberal opinion. If it gets up some noses why should I care? Of course I don't have proof of this, but what proof did you have to say I only do a 'small contribution'? Oh, none whatsoever. I concede the point. You're right - I'm wrong. If it bugs you so much - please, accept my apology Will he get more punishment for the accidental death of Halatau? I certainly hope not. He didn't shoot the guy.

2009-01-25 12:35:00 | Certainly they don't put you in any great moral position to make judgements about people's choices in life. Hah. Like you don't. And don't think I'm an idiot. You said that not in a literal context. You said that as a leverage to attack my personal opinion from. And now that's been pointed out by me, you conveniently pull out the fact to cover up what you actually meant. blah blah blah, I don't care, blah blah blah.... No no, I know you don't care. I'm just letting you know. A bit of knowledge doesn't hurt anybody. Oh, none whatsoever. I concede the point. You're right - I'm wrong. If it bugs you so much - please, accept my apology Go shove that apology up your insincere ass. Oh, and please answer me this question - why did you deliberately leave out the 'bludger' part when I said 'welfare bludger'?
