I really do appreciate it. I think it is about time to use the XP Pro upgrade CDs that I have been 'Gunner' install for a long time. I did think of repair install of 2K but it seems that it can't be done with the original CDs. Again, my thanks to all you've been just great. Cheers. Bluenose. |

2010-01-06 08:31:00 | I would seriously check out WinsockFix. | Agent_24 (57) | |
2010-01-06 09:46:00 | Thanks Agent 24. I DL'ed WinsockFix and ran it but no luck. The browser never completed loading. I tried both FF and IE with the same result. It was worth a try though. | bluenose (14548) | |
2010-01-06 11:29:00 | Reinstalling your ethernet driver might make it go. Do you know what your ethernet device is? | Agent_24 (57) | |
2010-01-07 08:22:00 | I guess the ethernet driver is working ok. It's nVidia according to Puppy-431 and I am using it right now through the Desktop PC in question. Again, many thanks for all you help. It's good to know where to come when you need help and/or advice.

2010-01-07 21:18:00 | Can you post the output of lspci command from puppy? | Agent_24 (57) | |
2010-01-08 02:49:00 | Yes, I can give that a try but you'll have to guide me. Linux is a foreign country to me. Also have to get lappy side by side with desktop. That shouldn't take long though. | bluenose (14548) | |
2010-01-08 03:07:00 | Just open a console\terminal in puppy (there's a shortcut on the desktop) and type the command "lspci" and press enter Then it will list all your PCI devices. Then just write down what is displayed. Only the information relating to the Ethernet card is probably needed.

2010-01-08 04:38:00 | It's quite a long list of numbers. About 21 lines. Can you give me a clue as to which ones we are looking for. Or do you want the whole lot? | bluenose (14548) | |
2010-01-08 04:54:00 | You should be able to highlight the whole thing, copy and paste it directly onto the forum... | Agent_24 (57) | |
