All you have to do is use it, or burn the ISOS that are on it. Thats why you dont get the cd

I used the restore partition once (the ISO's). I cant remember putting the key in to reinstall the OS

Yeah I meant the recovery CD does not need a CD key to work. But if the computer crashes you loes the partition, if you want the CD some vendors charge you for it and international postage from Australia. They don't give you the CD at purchase.

Thats why you make a recovery CD/DVD BEFORE you actually need it.

If the HDD Fails, the recovery partition is gone as well - as long as you have the COA on the side of the case, you can use another CD/DVD from a friend etc to reinstall - just means you have to download drivers from the manufactures web site.

You can still remove it (the hdd), + connect it to a working system.

And get the ISO's off it then burn them. Which, is what I did
