741084 2009-01-22 19:37:00 johcar - what you wrote about updating - you're spot on, lots of people either dont care or its to much bother to them.

The PC concerned Re the scans, I dont know if it was right upto date or not, Norton got killed so I couldn't check.

BUT along those lines - Another customer who I'm going to see today I did install nod32 and I always set it to update every hour automatically - their subscription expired in June last year - I DID call them a month before and reminded it was soon time to renew it @ $48.00, they said they would call me back - they did call back the day after it expired and said they would call me back to renew later when they had the Money.

Collecting the PC as today they asked me to reinstall it, as they said it got riddled with viruses from downloading music and they knew it was their own fault for not renewing Nod32 at the time - thought it would be "OK".

Going to cost a bit more than the $48.00 renewal.

741086 2009-01-22 19:43:00 Yep I see that a lot too Wainui . Buying NOD32 for most people could *almost* be called an investment . Sort of like putting oil in your car .

If you don't, it will run for a while, but eventually the whole thing will give up .

741087 2009-02-10 02:24:00 Here we go again - this time McAfee, fully updated.

I also couldn't uninstall McAfee, had to resort to the removal tool.

And MS Anti Spyware and Windows Defender were both installed, and neither was working.

I called in to fix the fact that she had lost the send/recieve button in outlook express. That has been fixed took all of a few seconds. I mentioned the Antivirus is not up to date and she said, "I know but how I do this?"

She is moving soon on Thursday and wants me to set up her computer in the new premises. When asked have you a telephone jack she said she did not know.

:groan: Sorry mate - Those results are all a figment of your imagination ---

They must be BECAUSE all the lab tests say this brand of software has the highest success rate, and Nod32 is not as good as it used to be.

YEAH RIGHT !!!!! :p

Geez worse than my lot......

I had one that "didn't need cleaning as Spybot and AdAware wwas installed". Pity they hadn't been updated in yonks.

Fair bit of malware and it trashed various bits of Windows too.

741093 2009-02-10 17:26:00 I am tending to find that despite the fact Antivir is a great free AV, some people are shutting it down simply because they are sick of the popups.
Pity really.

Oh well, Avast installs coming up. Only thing that I don't like about Avast (free) is the need for an activation code, and the fact that the code does run out.
